Valencia CF hosted Club Atletico Osasuna on Saturday 16th of April at 6:30 pm kick-off time at Mestalla on Matchday 32 of LaLiga Santander.
The game saw a really poised game between both sides in the early goings of the first period with Valencia CF looking to break forward at every opportunity, but with both sides finding it difficult to get things going in the way of danger.
The first Valencia CF chance fell to Uroš Račić who forced Herrera into a save and then Bryan Gil whose effort dragged just wide of the mark
Valencia CF were put on the backfoot by the opposition who enjoyed a series of attacking set pieces and hit the upright over the midway mark of the first half at Mestalla.
Dimitri Foulquier tested Hererra with a powerful drive which was turned around by the Club Atletico Osasuna goalkeeper as Valencia CF grew into the game by enjoying more possession over the half-hour mark.
Both sides kept on pushing for the opener, but the first half finished locked together at 0-0 with all to play for in the second half.
Valencia CF had a slow start to the game and Chimi Avila made it 0-1 to Club Atletico Osasuna from twelve yards out five minutes into the second half.
Minutes later Hugo Guillamón thought he had scored, but his goal was disallowed for handball in the process just five minutes later.
José Bordalás made a double change over the hour mark with Hélder Costa and Ilaix Moriba making way for Carlos Soler and Marcos André respectively.
Things took a turn for the worse with little over a quarter of an hour plus stoppage time left to go when Ante Budimir made 0-2 to Club Atletico Osasuna.
Spot-kick specialist, Carlos Soler made no mistake from the penalty spot and pulled one back for Valencia CF late on to grab his seventh goal from 12 yards out after the referee pointed to the spot following a foul by Rubén García on Gonçalo Guedes inside the box.
Valencia CF kept on pushing for a late, late equaliser, but the scoreline remained unchanged and Valencia CF lost out to Club Atlético Osasuna by a 1-2 result.
Valencia CF will make a short trip to face Villarreal CF on Tuesday, 19th of April at 9 pm at the Estadio La Ceramica in a midweek regional derby on Matchday 33 of LaLiga.
Valencia CF will chase a morale-boosting win ahead of the Copa del Rey Final at La Cartuja in Seville a week from today.
